Contemporary Craft’s Exhibition Program focuses on the presentation of three-dimensional work in craft media. Thematic shows and featured works explore issues and questions related to contemporary life. The emphasis is on the idea behind the work, rather than art that is strictly functional or decorative. Other important criteria include innovative and creative use of materials or processes, and high quality execution of work.
Contemporary Craft currently has two gallery spaces at its Lawrenceville location:
- Main Gallery: Exhibitions are scheduled two to three years in advance and are thematic or media specific. Most are invitational, however there are some juried opportunities available.
- Gerri Kay Exhibition Cases: This gallery space showcases innovative and experimental work featuring small-scale works, providing a platform for artists pushing creative boundaries. Exhibitions are scheduled one year in advance.
Exhibition associated programs are scheduled regularly with the intention to offer a dynamic extension of artistic engagement, including artist talks, workshops, and interactive events. These programs enrich the visitor experience by fostering a deeper connection to the showcased work and encouraging dialogue within our creative community.
