Kate Davidson is a woodworker, craftsperson, and educator whose work ranges from functional furniture to sculptural play. Originally from New England, she began working in historical restoration carpentry while living on the coast of Maine, eventually enrolling in the Vermont Woodworking School’s immersion program and later graduating from UW Madison with an MFA in Woodworking and Furniture. Her pieces have been exhibited nationally, including at the Esherick Museum and Museum for Art and Wood in Pennsylvania, through Craft Desert in San Diego, and at the Trout Museum in Wisconsin. She has participated in residencies at Penland School of Craft, the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, and Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft. Most recently, she spent the 2024 summer as the Woodworking Studio Coordinator at Peters Valley School of Craft, before moving to Pittsburgh for a position at Contemporary Craft. Besides creating her own multi-media pieces, her objective in the studio is to support collaboration and community in craft and woodworking spaces.
