Shadow Imprints, a solo exhibition by artist Jason Stein, delicately explores the legacies of collective memory and inherited trauma both within a family unit and throughout a shared cultural identity, and how these factors persistently shape and permeate thoughts across ancestral generations. The legacy of genetic memory, inherited trauma, and the chemical and biological rewiring of neural pathways and sub-systems has far-reaching and persistent consequences for future generations, and is only now being explored and discussed by society and the scientific community. This perceptual circulation of memories imprints preconceived thoughts, emotions, desires, and reactions upon individuals and leaves an enduring mark, both consciously and subconsciously.
