Jason Stein is a jeweler, metalsmith, and sculptor based in Charlotte, North Carolina in the United States. He received his BFA in Metals and Jewelry Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2008 and received his MFA in Metal Design from East Carolina University in 2010. He works full-time as a bench and custom jeweler in Charlotte, NC and taught curriculum classes in jewelry and metalsmithing at Central Piedmont Community College from 2017-2021. His work has been featured in national and international exhibitions such as “Metamorphoses” at the Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein (Bavarian Craft Council) in Munich, Germany for Munich Jewelry Week 2022, the exhibitions “DNA”, “Missing Memories”, and “Until Death Do Us Part” with Alliages Gallery in Lilles, France and other European venues from 2020-2023, and Craft Forms 2017 and 2018 in the United States. He has completed artist residencies at the Penland School For Craft, Peters Valley School of Craft, and Pocosin Arts. His work is included in private collections, as well as the Porter-Price collection at the Mint Museum of Craft and Design in Charlotte, NC. Jason was also Contemporary Craft’s first National Artist-in-Residence in May 2023.
