This interdisciplinary exhibit, organized by Women of Visions, Inc., features artworks by regional artists and explores visual expressions related to Black hair. From intuitive geometry to strands of resistance, these African American artists adapt, innovate, and integrate cultural notions of adornment by drawing from within.
Rich and varied expressions of personal and social reflections of African American women are voiced.
A Pittsburgh-based group representing artists of many mediums, Women of Visions, Inc. was founded in 1981. The mission of the organization is to advance the art of African American women through self-promotion and education. WOV presents collaborative exhibitions with arts groups and individual artists, and?builds relationships in the arts both regionally and nationally.
