This solo exhibition features the work of Vicki Branagan, Contemporary Craft’s Studio Apprentice. An exploration of comfort and vulnerability, Branagan is drawn to the pillow form for the familiarity and versatility it provides. A pillow is overwhelmingly approachable. It has the power to draw someone closer with a baseless promise of being soothing. Branagan brands her work with the insecurities, embarrassments, and annoyances that consistently populate her thoughts. This body of work serves as an avenue for her to express disconcerting emotions in a subtle manner. She aims to establish a balance within materials and text that emphasize tension found in relationships, identity, and family.
