Discover the diverse work of the Allegheny Metals Club, a group with close to 100 members that meets monthly at Contemporary Craft.
The representation within the group includes traditional metalsmiths, enamellists, fine jewelers, PMC artists, and mixed-media craftspeople. Gathering together allows for members to exchange ideas, talk shop and share techniques. Past member demonstrations have included hydraulic press use; surface techniques; a hammershop (forging, forming and raising); and pin backs. The Allegheny Metals Club has also hosted a pin swap and a holiday ornament exchange.
This group exhibition is a first for the club, and was juried by Natalie Sweet, who is the Exhibitions/Program Assistant at Contemporary Craft. It showcases the broad array of talent within the Allegheny Metals Club and gives a glimpse of what is happening within the field of contemporary metals today.
The Allegheny Metals club was founded in May of 2015 by Katie Rearick, here in Pittsburgh, PA.
