Weaving Projects! Directed Open Studio with Margaret Dugger

8-Week Workshop
Date: Tuesdays, September 9 – November 4 , 2025
Note: no class meeting on Tuesday September 30. Weavers will be welcome to come in that evening and work independently if they wish.
Time: 6pm-9pm
Description: Expand your weaving skills!
In this series, students will have the opportunity to design and weave individualized projects on one of Contemporary Craft’s looms. We will dive deeper into the specifics of planning a woven project, including reading—or adapting—a weaving pattern draft, selecting yarn, measuring and estimating material needs, and finishing techniques. In short, we will explore ways to think through the question “what will the cloth do?” before we begin working at the loom or even have yarn in hand.
This class series is for weavers with some experience but who need a little assistnace in designing and figuring out how to make the cloth of their dreams! Ideally, weavers will have completed Weaving 1 at CC or who have some other experience with weaving. Not to worry! It is expected that weavers will need assistance preparing and measuring yarn and dressing the loom!
Tuition: $295 (does not include materials)
Materials: Weavers provide their own material. Some yarns are available for purchase from the studio.
Location: Contemporary Craft, TImmons Studios (5688 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201). Note, this workshop will take place in the Fibers Loft, which is on the second floor of the building.
