Wax Carving Intensive with National Artist-in-Residence Julia Harrison
June 7 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

7-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, June 7th
Time: 10am-5pm
Description: Learn to carve blocks of hard wax into smooth, detailed, and refined forms suitable for casting in precious metal! Carving opens up so many options for introducing sculptural forms into your jewelry work. During this workshop you’ll get familiar with the many different types and formats of wax available, and explore a range of both basic and specialized tools for wax carving and polishing. Demos will cover several projects (such as signet ring, hollow form, and figure) from start to finish; you’ll choose which project you wish to finish. We will NOT be casting during this workshop but we will discuss how to best prepare your wax model for casting by a professional casting service or during a later casting workshop.
