Learn different techniques with pressed flowers and transform them into useful objects that preserve natural wonders and your memories.

2-Hour Workshop

Date: Saturday, May 13

Time: 10am-12pm

Description: Curious about stained glass or putting flowers in glass? Get crafty with us on a small scale! Learn different techniques with pressed flowers and transform them into useful objects that preserve natural wonders and your memories. Students will learn how to cut sheet glass and how to foil the edges. Use materials provided and/or bring your own pressed flowers if you desire.

Create your own “cabinet of curiosity” that fits into a glass brooch on your coat, backpack, sweater, or an object for your desk. Makes a great gift of a fun activity to do with friends and family. Everything will be sandwiched between 2 sheets of glass. You will make 2 pins.

Tuition: $45 + $40 materials fee

Materials: All other materials will be provided but students are encouraged to bring poems, handwritten notes, paper collages, cut-outs, decals, magazines, pictures, and thin materials like dried flowers, feathers, or anything sentimental you’d like in glass.

Location: Contemporary Craft (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)

Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.

Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist

Sarah Cohen started PetalVision Glass in 2016, which transforms flora and fauna into glass designs that can be gifted and worn proudly. Transplanted to Pittsburgh in 2015 after working for other artists, Sarah started her own studio practice full-time. Focusing on nature and the effects of consumerism, Sarah also makes glass mosaics.

She is a Jersey girl who loves bagels and Heinz Ketchup (just not together) and she unabashedly thinks art can change the world!
