Silver Scrap Recycling with Kayla Staigvil
May 24 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

3-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, May 24
Time: 10am-1pm
Description: Students will learn how to take silver scrap from previous projects and turn it into workable material again. This class will overview the process of turning scrap silver that is too small to utilize into rods and ingots that can be processed into workable wire or sheet, some alloy processes may be discussed as well. This is geared towards students who have already worked in silver but may want to find a more economical route of recycling their silver scrap. Ideally only .925 sterling silver and .999 fine silver should be used in recycling, with limits on solder contamination. This class does require some physical exertion to perform, equipment like hand cranks and large hammers will be used, students should be able to utilize these tools.
Tuition: $55 + $15 materials fee
Materials: All materials will be provided
Location: Contemporary Craft: Raphael Studios Building (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)
