
Silver Bezel Set Rings with Kayla Staigvil

7-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, April 5
Time: 10am-5pm
Description: In this workshop, students will be taught the basics of silver ring making and how to mount a bezel set stone. Participants will be taught about ring sizing, the MOHS grading scale and the process of how to create a simple stone setting that will utilize a flat back stone known as a cabochon. Students should be able to complete the steps of sawing, filing, soldering, stone setting and polishing. Along with the previous goals, basic tool usage will be discussed if participants are not familiar, with the emphasis being on safety, hand dexterity and fine motor skills. Materials are provided by the instructor, and students will have the choice of choosing a limited selection of gemstones (ex. Amethyst, Kunzite, Amazonite, Sunstone, but may vary on availability).
Tuition: $95 + $36 materials fee

Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist
Kayla Staigvil is a studio jeweler residing in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her MFA in Studio Arts with a concentration in Metal Design at East Carolina University in 2016. Kayla also received a BFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2013 with a concentration in metalsmithing/jewelry design. Her mentors include Bob Ebendorf, Cappy Counard, Sue Amendolara, Tim Lazure and Ken Bova. Kayla specializes in traditional silversmithing techniques and often incorporates found objects into her work along with gemstones and pearls. Besides making jewelry; Kayla is an avid baker, loves to read fantasy books and is involved in the local DIY scene.
