Shimmering Enamel with Sharon Massey

7-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, July 13, 2024
Time: 10am-5pm
Description: Learn to fire mica powder into vitreous enamel to create shimmering surfaces. We will work on both copper and steel to create base coats for mica, and learn to apply and fire it into the surface for a look that’s unlike any other enamel finish.
Tuition: $95 + $40 materials fee
Materials: Students should bring rubber gloves and a face mask. All other materials will be provided.
Location: Contemporary Craft (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)
Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.
About the Artist
Sharon Massey is a metalsmith, jeweler and enamelist based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her jewelry has been exhibited in Germany, Estonia, Poland, Italy, Spain, China, Japan, Canada, Brazil, and Australia, as well as across the United States. Sharon’s work has been included in numerous publications, including American Craft and Metalsmith magazines. Her work is included in several public collections including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Yale University Art Gallery.
