Mold Making and Resin with Andrew Thornton

4-Hour Workshop

Description: Want to make multiples of your work? This class will show different ways to create molds of your work and introduce you to products that will allow you to make quick copies. This is great for artists who are stuck making one-of-kind pieces and would like to scale up production. Not an artist? That’s okay! We can make molds of found objects.
Tuition: $65 + $20 materials fee
Materials: All materials will be provided
Location: Contemporary Craft (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)
Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist
Andrew Thornton is a professional fine artist, trained at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He is a mixed media artist who works in painting, collage, metalsmithing, sculpture, polymer clay, resin, and jewelry. His work explores identity through magical realism and fantasy. He has projects that were featured in Kristal Wick’s book, “Foxy Epoxy” and was invited as a guest on the PBS shows, “Beads, Baubles, and Jewels” and “Make It Artsy”. Andrew is the Co-Owner and Creative Director of Allegory Gallery in Ligonier, PA. Allegory Gallery was one of SCORE’s 2018 American Small Business Championship winners. When he’s not creating art, making jewelry, or writing, he is working on Star Cottage Studio. Star Cottage Studio is a working studio in a 100 year old former school house. Andrew recently was appointed as a Board Member for Touchstone Center for Crafts and was awarded one of the Artist-in- Residence positions in the Metal Studio at Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, PA. He and his partner, William, live in their happy home with three cats, artwork covering every wall, and lots and lots of books and beads!
