3-Hour Workshop

Date: Saturday, January 20, 2024

Time: 10am-1pm

Description: Enter the world of chain maille while you create your very own Mobius Knot bracelet. Students will leave with a completed bracelet, and if time allows, matching earrings.

Tuition: $55 + $17 materials fee

Materials: All materials will be provided.

Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.

Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist

Inspired by a Byzantine necklace that was a gift, I started researching methods and materials used to make armor. Besides offering protection from the slings and arrows of war I realized the armor also projected a sense of confidence to the wearer. It was then that I realized I wanted to make armor for the modern day battles we all face.

With 2 pliers (and quite a bit of arm strength!) chain maille is brought to life again in the 21st century. Using variations of weaves found in European, Persian and Japanese armor I weave jump rings one at a time into complicated patterns and often incorporate semi-precious stones.
