Laser Engraving for Printmakers with Tressa Jones

4-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, February 4, 2023
Time: 10am-2pm
Description: In this workshop students will choose from 3 or 4 designs to create a laser cut woodblock which they will then print by hand. We will cover the basic process of designing vector files, operating the Rabbit Laser engraver, preparing a woodblock for laser engraving, and hand printing onto paper. Students will leave the workshop with a laser cut wood black and several prints.
Tuition: $65 + $25 materials fee
Materials: All materials will be provided.
Location: Contemporary Craft (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)
Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.
About the Artist
Tressa Jones is an artist and printmaker originally from Boston, MA, currently based in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her BS in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts, completed PostBaccalaureate studies in Printmaking at New Mexico Highlands University, and earned an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Montana. Her travels and creative research, which include residencies at Kunstnarhuset Messen in Alvik, Norway, the Lawrence Arts Center, KS, the Vermont Studio Center, and Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, PA, fuel her artistic investigation of time and its manifestations in the body, landscape, and built environment. Jones’s studio practice is compemented by work at arts organizations and educational institutions. She currently works with the Art Supple Co. as their Business Development Associate and is raising an awesome toddler.
