
Japanese Style Raising with Glen Gardner

7-Hour Workshop

Time: 10am-5pm
Description: Japanese style raising methods emphasize a bold and direct approach for transforming flat sheets of metal into vessel forms. Similar but different than Western style methods, this introductory class will explore the fundamental process. Students can expect to complete a bowl or cup during class. Intermediate to advanced metalsmithing experience required.
Tuition: $95 + $40 materials fee

Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist
Glen Gardner is a Pittsburgh based metalsmith working in all metals. Gardner produces functional and ornamental works including jewelry, tools, holloware and sculpture. He has taught at Penland School (NC), Peters Valley (NJ) TouchCenter for Craft (PA). Gardner has exhibited widely in The U.S. and his work is included in several public and private collections. Currently operating as GSG Studio his work is now focused on hammer raised vessel forms. Gardner’s work relies on the use of simple hand tools to produce objects rich in texture and color.
