3-Hour Workshop

Time: 11am-2pm
Description: Tatting is a technique for creating lace dating back over 200 years. Often worn by those who could not afford bobbin lace, tatting is a beautiful craft that is simple to start, inexpensive to practice, and easy to transport. Often, tatted works are decorative additions to clothing and and home goods, adorning wearers and living spaces.
This workshop will provide an introduction to tatting, including the basic stitches, formation of rings and chains, and how to read tatting patterns.
Tuition: $55 + $20 materials fee
Materials: All materials will be provided! Tools will be yours to keep to continue practicing your craft!
Location: Contemporary Craft (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)
Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist
Andy Hammer is a software engineering Ph.D. student at Carnegie Mellon University, and is currently based in Pittsburgh. Since they were a child, Andy has been involved in different fiber arts, and was taught how to knit by their great grandmother at 11 years old. Since then, Andy has expanded their repertoire to include sewing, quilting, and tatting.
