Hand Forged Bottle Opener Keychain with Jared Ondovchik

Blacksmithing for Beginners!
Date: Thursday, September 18, 2025
Time: 6pm-8:30pm
Description: Students will learn some of the basics of blacksmithing and will leave their workshop with a hand forged bottle opener, with a decorative twist. You can expect to learn how to forge a taper, how to forge a scroll, how to twist a bar of steel and how to do a “blacksmith’s finish” using heat and beeswax.
Tuition: $85

Location: Contemporary Craft – Timmons Studios, Blacksmithing Studio (5688 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)
Cancellations: Cancellations are decided one business day before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.

Jared Ondovchik, owner of Artifact Metalworks, began his journey as a bladesmith when necessity and curiosity drove him to forge his first knife after his pocketknife went missing. Today, his thriving business specializes in creating hand-forged custom knives and artisan metalwork that combine beauty with functionality. His work caters to chefs, outdoorsmen, farmers, adventurers, home cooks, and artisans seeking high-quality, durable blades.
