Forged Copper Bracelets with National Artist-in-Residence Jason Stein

4-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, May 27, 2023
Time: 10am-2pm
Description: This workshop will be an exploration of the traditional metalsmithing techniques of forging, shaping, and texturing through the creation of copper bracelets. Students will leave with 2-3 hand-forged and twisted copper bracelets and a working knowledge of simple forging, filing, sanding, twisting, and forming.
Tuition: $65 Tuition + $10 materials fee
Materials: All materials are included.
Location: Contemporary Craft (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)
Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist
Jason Stein is a jeweler, metalsmith, and sculptor based in Charlotte, North Carolina in the United States. He received his BFA in Metals and Jewelry Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2008 and received his MFA in Metal Design from East Carolina University in 2010. He works full-time as a bench and custom jeweler in Charlotte, NC and taught curiculum classes in jewelry and metalsmithing at Central piedmont Community College from 2017-2021. His work has been featured in national and international exhibitiions such as “Metamorphoses” at the Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein (Bavarian Craft Council) in Munich, Germany for Munich Jewelry Week 2022, the exhibitions “DNA”, “Missing Memories”, and “Until Death Do Us Part” with Alliages Gallery in Lilles, France and other European venues from 2020-2023, and CraftForms 2017 and 2018 in the United States. He has completed artist residencies at the Penland School for Craft, Peters Valley School of Craft, and Pocosin Arts.
