Fiberart International 2022 Docent Tour

August 20, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 11:30 am

  • « Material Dialogue: Fibers as a Language
  • Transformation 11: Contemporary Works in Glass Opening Reception »
Join Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh Member Kirsten Ervin for a guided tour of the “Fiberart International 2022” exhibition.

Since 1967, the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh has produced Fiberart International, a triennial juried exhibition open to artists worldwide. For this year’s iteration, Fiberart International 2022 (FI2022), a total of 545 artists from 30 countries answered the call for entry by submitting nearly 1,300 works of art. They were met with thousands of hours of support by dozens of contributing volunteers over the three-year exhibition project cycle—volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure this exhibition maintains its status as a recognized worldwide benchmark of fiber art.

The work for FI2022 was juried by four distinguished, internationally renowned artists and curators: Chiachio and Giannone, who made selections as a team; Jessica Hemmings; and Nnenna Okore. Together, they selected 45 pieces that collectively represent a dynamic range of contemporary fiber art mastery and exploration from artists from 13 countries and 17 U.S. states—the most widespread geographical representation of works in FI’s history.

Please join Fiberarts Guild Member Kirsten Ervin as she guides you through the 24th installment of this storied exhibition at Contemporary Craft.
