June 29 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
4-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, June 29, 2024
Time: 1pm-5pm
Description: In this workshop, students will learn how to deconstruct and reconstruct the elements from fashion magazines, and then transfer them into wearable fashion jewelry by using fabric and basic metal materials. Students will investigate simple mold making in cut fashion magazines, and also expect to learn hand sewing skills. After finishing the fabric sections, Dongyi will instruct some basic metal techniques, such as sawing, soldering and cold connections. It will help students to build connections with their fabric and human bodies.
Artist Talk: Instructor Dongyi will be part of an Artist Talk along with Regional Artists-in-Residence Teresa Audet and Kathryn Shriver at 10:30am the morning of the workshop. The talk is free to attend but we ask that you register here so we know how many people to expect.
Tuition: $65 + $20 materials fee
Materials: All materials will be provided. If you have any of your own fashion magazines that you would like to bring, please do!
