Earring Basics: Silver Mix & Match Sets with Kathryn Shriver

7-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, November 8
Time: 10am-5pm
Description: During this 7-hour workshop, participants will each make one pair of post earrings and one pair of drop earrings. These may be designed as a set for wearing together, mixing and matching, or gifting friends! This workshop will cover basic sawing, shaping, and texturing techniques for creating an earring design, and will provide step-by-step instruction for soldering and shaping ear wires and posts. Instruction will be geared toward beginning and intermediate metalsmiths, but this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to begin working with silver, practice torch control and soldering setups, or hone their sawing, finishing, and design skills.
Tuition: $105 + $36 materials fee
Materials: All materials will be provided
Location: Contemporary Craft – Raphael Building (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)
Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist
Kathryn Shriver is a visual artist from Western New York, now based in Pittsburgh. She uses metalwork, glass bead weaving, and the materials of home décor to explore perceptions of artistry and self-expression through the lens of her rural, working-class background. Kathryn holds an MFA in Painting & Drawing from Concordia University (Montreal). Her work has been shown across the US and Canada and she’s participated in residency programs at the Vermont Studio Center, the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, and Contemporary Craft, among others.
