Cuttlefish Casting with Amanda Stumpf

Description: The skeleton of a squid like saltwater fish know as a cuttlefish can be used to ceate simple one-use molds for casting. The growth lines of the fish resemble the grain pattern of wood creating a unique texture. This technique provides immediate results at a low cost and with little equipment while producing a rich texture and pattern.
During the workshop students will make one finished ring using this casting technique.
Tuition: $105 + materials fee
Materials: There is a flat $20 materials fee that will be paid with your registration to cover Studio supplies and materials. In addition, students will pay on-site the day of the workshop for the amount of sterling silver used to make their ring. The estimated cost for silver is $10-$15 based on the size of the ring. All materials will be provided.

Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.
About the Artist
Amanda was born in Pittsburgh in 1994. She is an American jewellery maker from Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school in 2012, she moved to Ohio to attend Kent State University, where she completed a BFA in Crafts with a concentration in jewellery and metalwoking, under Demita Thomloudis, along with a minor in At History. Wanting to continue hereducation she moved to Florence, Italy to attend Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School to receive her MFA where she studied under Evert Nijland, Jorge Manilla and Lucy Sarneel.
