
Beaded Flowers! with Kathryn Shriver

7-Hour Workshop
Date: Saturday, May 31st
Time: 10am-5pm
Description: Explore the world of beaded flowers! This 1-day workshop will instruct participants on a number of off-loom weaving techniques for creating three-dimensional flowers with glass beads. These beaded elements are ideal for jewelry design, embroidery and clothing embellishment, or sculptural work. This workshop is tailored to all skill levels, and will offer an introductory taste of bead weaving for beginners as well as innovative, exciting techniques for experienced beaders. Skills that will be taught and utilized in this workshop include: peyote stitch, herringbone stitch, edge finishing, and different increase + decrease methods. Students will be provided with all necessary tools & materials, including a selection of size 0/11 Miyuki Delica beads for use during class. They will also receive a series of written patterns and instructions to take away with them.
Tuition: $95 + $30 materials fee

Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.
Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist
Kathryn Shriver is a visual artist from Western New York, now based in Pittsburgh. She uses metalwork, glass bead weaving, and the materials of home décor to explore perceptions of artistry and self-expression through the lens of her rural, working-class background. Kathryn holds an MFA in Painting & Drawing from Concordia University (Montreal). Her work has been shown across the US and Canada and she’s participated in residency programs at the Vermont Studio Center, the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, and Contemporary Craft, among others.
