In the lead-up to our original exhibition?ENOUGH Violence: Artists Speak Out, artists Dauvit Alenxander (Glasgow, Scotland) and Gerry Florida (Pittsburgh, PA) recently led a workshop focused on developing behavioral strategies and a sense of personal protection through the creation of talismans and amulets. Thanks to a generous donation from the Jack Buncher Foundation, 12 students, ages 12 – 16, received full scholarships to the two-day workshop where they learned basic jewelry making skills, gained an awareness of recycling and repurposing materials, and explored the powerful social messages that can be embedded in jewelry.
