Contemporary Craft Expansion
We are expanding! We just closed on the purchase of a new property, located at 5688 Butler Street, directly across the street from our existing facility. This expansion doubles the organization’s square footage, offering an additional 13,000 square feet, which will enable us to build out our fibers and metals programs, reintroduce a woodworking studio, and build out a new blacksmithing studio.

Community Day with BOOM Concepts
We’re teaming up with BOOM Concepts for a day of family-friendly, hands-on activities: artist demos; light snacks; and a scavenger hunt of our new exhibition, "Keiko Fukazawa Retrospective: The Space in Between." The event is FREE and open to the public.
Contemporary Craft fosters the use of traditional craft materials such as ceramic, fiber, glass, metal and wood to make art. Our community honors the history and heritage of craft, while showcasing modern, exploratory work.

National Artist-in-Residence Open Call
Want to be one of our next National Artists-in-Residence? Applications are now open, and the submission deadline is Thursday, February 20, 11:59 PM EST.
Contemporary Craft’s National Residency program supports artists working in small metals, jewelry, fibers, weaving, papermaking, book arts, and small-scale woodworking. We offer two types of National Residencies (for artists living outside of a 100 mile radius of Pittsburgh, PA): a Short-Term Residency for a period of one month, and a Long-Term Residency for a period of six months.
All National Artists-in-Residence receive free furnished housing in a four bedroom home just a quick three-minute drive from Contemporary Craft, a semi-private work space at Contemporary Craft, and access to our fully equipped Studio spaces.
This residency period begins July 2025.
